Re-industrialisation loan scheme

The Ministry of Economic Development (GFM) Communication from was established on the basis of

the Baross Gábor Re-industrialisation Loan Scheme (BGH),

thanks to which one of the largest ever government loan programmes in Hungary, worth HUF 700 billion, will start in February 2023.

The new Baross Gábor Reindustrialisation Loan Programme aims to help companies in difficulty. The programme, run by Eximbank, offers not only export loans but also all-purpose loans in HUF and EUR, which can be used as investment loans and working capital loans. The programme is available without any size limit, so that large companies can access the preferential loans in addition to small and medium-sized enterprises.

The new loan scheme will allow businesses to access cheap funding in the current high interest rate environment and refinance their previously borrowed loans, which will mature in large amounts during 2023. This is particularly important as the refinancing risk of corporate loans is significantly increasing and Hungarian companies are facing borrowing rates above 20% against low interest rates. The interest rate conditions of the Baross Gábor Reindustrialisation Loan Programme are very favourable, available at a fixed rate until the end of the maturity period, typically at a maximum of 6 percent for forint loans and 3.5 percent for euro loans.

With the new measure, companies will have access to around HUF 3,000 billion in 2023, equivalent to 4% of GDP. through the loan and capital programmes of the Hungarian Development Bank and Eximbank, and the Széchenyi Card (SZKP) programmes.
